The Information and Decision Support Center, in the Council of Ministers, obtained a certificate (committed to excellence) granted by the European Organization for Quality Management (EFQM), thus becoming the first Egyptian and African governmental institution to obtain this certificate, which is granted to the most distinguished institutions in accordance with European standards of institutional excellence, and this comes as a culmination For the efforts of the Information and Decision Support Center towards consolidating the values of institutional excellence, and consolidating a culture of creativity within the work system.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, congratulated all the center's employees on the occasion of receiving the award, indicating his appreciation for the efforts made by them during this period, and his aspiration for permanent and continuous development in performance. Osama El-Gohary, Assistant to the Prime Minister and Acting Head of the Information and Decision Support Center, explained that the European Certificate of Excellence is an acknowledgment by the European Foundation that the holder of it is committed to achieving the best administrative methods in its activities, and that it is able to introduce further development and improvement in its work, noting The Center obtained this certificate after informing a team of assessors from the European Organization for Quality Management “EFQM” during evaluation sessions, about all the processes, methodologies used, opportunities for improvement and their results based on the excellence model of the European Foundation.
The Acting Head of the Center explained that in addition to developing the method of managing internal operations and the methodologies used in the Information Center in accordance with European standards, granting this certificate required that the Information Center establish 3 development projects and develop an action plan aimed at improving performance in the center as a whole, and then apply for a certificate Commitment to excellence, followed by a visit during a period ranging between 6 and 9 months, by a team of residents at the European Foundation for Quality Management to evaluate these projects, measure progress, and ensure that the Center adheres to European quality standards to obtain the award.
El-Gohary pointed out that the Cabinet Information Center has won, during its nearly 35-year career, 14 prestigious Arab and international awards, most notably the award for the best Arab institution in 2002.
Osama El-Gohary confirmed that last year witnessed a comprehensive plan to develop all of its systems and sites, which were represented in (the legal portal for Egyptian legislation, the electronic enterprise management system, the Strategic Documents Center, and the National Emergency Management System), as well as the launch of a data science unit that works in the field of Processing huge data, and coming up with scenarios to solve the problems facing the decision maker, based on the latest artificial intelligence systems.
The Assistant Prime Minister explained that the center has also developed all its communication mechanisms with public opinion and the outside community, through the expansion of the issuance of weekly research bulletins such as (a look at events, development excerpts, future directions....etc), in addition to developing the center's website, As well as developing the management of its official accounts on various social media platforms, with the aim of reaching the largest number of followers using the latest information display tools.
Osama El-Gohary added that the center had a prominent role in supporting the government’s efforts to confront the Corona pandemic by launching the “care.gov.eg” website to display important information about the pandemic and the development of its spread and the “Ahalina” website to support irregular employment, and the center also cooperated with a group of the most important thinkers. And opinion writers in Egypt, to write policy papers specialized in issues that discuss the most important changes on the global and local arenas, and over the past year, the Center has been keen to be present in the local and international arenas by hosting international conferences, most notably the fourth meeting of the Arab Partnership for Disaster Risk Reduction, and the Forum Governance and Egypt Vision 2030, which was organized in coordination with the Chinese Embassy.
